FEMA/USACE Urban Search and Rescue Structures Specialist
1) Review the Disaster Engineer Website and the "Structures Specialist Position Description" pdf for requirements - http://www.disasterengineer.org/
2) Take FEMA ICS-100, 200, 301, 700, 800, and 809 online independent study courses and obtain certificate
3) Locate the closest FEMA US&R Task Force in your area and contact them by phone (Ask to speak to the Task Force Coordinator) - http://www.fema.gov/emergency/usr/index.shtm
CalEMA Regional Task Force (RTF) Urban Search and Rescue Structures Specialist
1) Review the Disaster Engineer Website and the "Structures Specialist Position Description" pdf for requirements - http://www.disasterengineer.org/
2) Take FEMA ICS-100, 200, 301, 700, 800, and 809 online independent study courses and obtain certficiate
3) Locate the closest California Fire Department in your area and contact them by phone (Ask to speak to the US&R Chief).
Note: Not all counties or cities have a regional task force (US&R RTF)
